In 2017, Ghawazee Moon Bellydance celebrates it's 10th year of providing encouraging, supportive, community-centred bellydance classes to adults, children and young women. We have grown from a small young women's performance group to a multigenerational community, providing beginner through to advanced classes in three different locations around Canberra. Our teachers are seasoned instructors and performers, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience, along with a passion for this ancient art form. To ensure that all students receive the best possible bellydance education, our instructors adhere to our Code of Ethics. |

After a childhood spent studying classical ballet and jazz, Sam began training in Folkloric Bellydance in 2000, and it has been her passion ever since. It is a dance style she wishes had been available to her as a girl - particularly as a teenager - and is dedicated to raising awareness of Bellydance as an excellent dance form to parents who are looking at dance classes for their young children and teenagers. Sam studied with the Raqs Sharqi School of Egyptian Dance, and continues to develop her skills through participation in workshops and intensives with bellydancers and musicians from Canberra, interstate and overseas. She has a practiced understanding of both musicianship and dance which enhances her choreography, improvisation and teaching skills. She has been performed as a member of several dance troupes including Awalim, The Roving Raqs Sharqis, Kahi Hiomi: women of earth, Daughters of the Peacock Padishah and also performs as a soloist. She is currently the artistic director of, and a performer with, TABLA bellydance. Sam is an experienced teacher, choreographer and workshop presenter - encouraging, enthusiastic and supportive. Instructing since 2003, Samina is qualified under the Ausdance Skill Set for Dance Teachers. Whilst Sam does add a personal flair to her interpretation of bellydance, her movements and choreographies are well grounded in the Folkloric roots of the dance, and she continues to find inspiration through study of its culture and traditions. |

Hadeeqa started her bellydance journey over ten years ago. An admirer and enthusiast of the folkloric style, she also experiments with great skill in fusion stylings. Over the years she has developed her own special blends of Dubstep, Hip-Hop and Steampunk Fusion styles which are both mesmerising and awe-inspiring. Hadeeqa is a performer and choreographer with TABLA bellydance, and also performs as a soloist. She is passionate about bellydance, and continues to hone her skills through continued studies in a variety of bellydance styles. Hadeeqa previously taught our Civic Beginner and Fusion classes, and will continue to teach workshops in Fusion Technique, Styling & Choreography when she visits Canberra again. |
